Azusa Pacific University is the Best University in the San Gabriel Valley, according to a recent poll conducted by the Southern California News Group. This is the third consecutive year that APU has received the Best of the San Gabriel Valley Readers Choice Award from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star News, and Whittier Daily News.
“We are so honored and grateful that Azusa Pacific University has received this valued recognition from our San Gabriel Valley community,” said President Paul W. Ferguson, Ph.D., DABT. “We are proud to call the San Gabriel Valley our home, knowing the majority of our students come to APU from area high schools and community colleges. This enables APU to be a vital partner in strengthening our region with engaged and talented alumni who contribute to the vitality of our communities.”
APU’s educational commitment to the San Gabriel Valley is evidenced through its partnerships with several local school districts. These partnerships provide guaranteed admission for high school graduates who meet requirements and $10,000 renewable scholarships. San Gabriel Valley districts include Arcadia, Azusa, Bassett, Bonita, Charter Oak, Claremont, Covina-Valley, Duarte, Glendora, Monrovia, Pasadena, Rowland, Temple City, and West Covina. This partnership extends to several private schools in the San Gabriel Valley, including Damien, Maranatha, Pomona Catholic, St. Lucy's, Western Christian, and Whittier Christian.
The university also contributes to the region’s economic vitality, generating $474 million for the San Gabriel Valley economy each year. This includes supporting about 2,800 direct, indirect, and induced jobs around the region, $6 million in capital investments, and $32 million spent by APU students each year within the valley. In addition, APU students perform 165,000 hours of community service each year, and more than 10,600 APU alumni and 600 employees reside within the San Gabriel Valley.
