Approximately 1,492 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University on Sat., December 14, 2019, at the university’s winter commencement ceremonies. These graduates will earn a total of 1,498 degrees including 17 associate’s, 812 bachelor’s, 597 master’s, one post master’s, and 71 doctoral degrees.
- Bachelor’s and professional studies degree ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
- Doctoral and master’s degree ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
- Los Angeles Pacific University ceremony at 5 p.m.
- Ceremonies take place in APU’s Felix Event Center, located on West Campus, at 701 E. Foothill Blvd., in Azusa.
The commencement speaker for the first two ceremonies is Pastor Francis Chan, the best-selling author of Letters to the Church, Crazy Love, Forgotten God, and Erasing Hell. Chan has ministered in the U.S. for more than 20 years, including serving as the former pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley and planting churches in the San Francisco area. Chan and his wife, Lisa, have seven children and are coauthors of the book You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity. This fall, Chan made national news with his announcement during an APU chapel service that he and his family will move to Asia to be missionaries. He challenged other Christians to boldly follow God’s call on their lives.
The speaker for LAPU's ceremony is Tami Heim, president and CEO of Christian Leadership Alliance, headquartered in San Clemente. Her professional career includes executive leadership experience in the technology, marketing, publishing, and retail sectors. She has served as a partner in The A Group – Brand Development, executive vice president and chief publishing officer for Thomas Nelson Publishers, and as the president of Borders, Inc. Heim and her husband, Dale, are actively involved in ministry and lead mission teams to Haiti to love and disciple orphans.
