Biography

Lyndy McGrody, MM, is a professional freelance bassoonist and music educator based in Southern California. McGrody has performed in some of the most revered concert venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. She received her bachelor's degree in bassoon performance from UC Santa Barbara, where she studied with Andy Radford. McGrody then attended the USC Thornton School of Music for four years to study with Shawn Mouser of the LA Philharmonic, earning her master's degree and graduate certificate in bassoon performance. As an orchestral musician, McGrody has performed with the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Corona Symphony Orchestra, and other professional groups. For her love of chamber music, she has performed in the International Studies Institute at Palazzo Rucellai in Florence, Italy. She also has been a frequent collaborator on chamber music projects for Classical Revolution Los Angeles and Switch Music LA. As an educator, McGrody currently instructs bassoon students at Azusa Pacific University and the Claremont Colleges, in addition to the students in her private studio.
