Biography

Lavone, a native of Los Angeles, has been the director of the Azusa Pacific University Gospel Choir since Fall 2016. In addition to directing the Gospel Choir, teaching commercial voice and an ethnomusicology course on Soul Music at APU, she also teaches musicianship to children in the National Children’s Chorus. Lavone received her Master’s of Music Education degree from APU in December 2018. In February, she presented her master’s thesis (work in progress), "Keepin’ It Real: A Curricular Approach to Gospel Choir" at the 2019 California All-State Music Educator’s Conference. As a freelance musician, Lavone performs with John Fogerty as well as various L. A. based bands including The Blessings, and blues/rock artist, Freedom Heartsong. She recently completed tours to Poland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with John Fogerty and tours to Italy & China with blues artist, Bob Malone.
