Melinda Dicken, MSN, RN, CNS has more than 25 years of experience in the nursing care of adult patients across the life span in the acute care settings. She utilizes evidence-based practice guidelines, strong interpersonal skills, and a well-developed knowledge base to model excellent nursing care. Her teaching approach not only lays the foundation for future learning, but can be utilized in real-life patient encounters that will promote nursing excellence and serve to further increase knowledge and the application of learning. Her leadership and service experience at APU has included: Lead teacher for UNRS105 Foundations of Professional Nursing/Aging, UNRS367 Pathophysiology, chair of the traditional BSN admissions committee, faculty senate representative for the school of nursing, member of the initial planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school of nursing’s simulation program, which included presentations at local, regional, and international conferences, member of the curriculum committee in the school of nursing, senate representative to the faculty development committee, and member of the undergraduate studies council. This diverse experience at the school of nursing and university levels contribute to the collaboration needed in her current role as the interim chair of the traditional undergraduate nursing program.
