Paul W. Ferguson, Ph.D., DABT
Prior to his role as APU’s 17th president, Dr. Ferguson held leadership positions at five public universities, including as president of Ball State University and president of the University of Maine. He most recently served as the founding dean of the School of Science, Technology and Health at Biola University.
Andrew Barton, Ed.D.
Senior Advisor to the President, Chief of Staff
In his role, Dr. Barton provides direct support to President Ferguson through execution of a broad range of strategic, university-wide initiatives. He also serves as the primary interface between the administration and the Board of Trustees. Dr. Barton previously served in university and human services organizations in the U.S. and England.
Lara Kim, M.A.
Advisor to the President, Deputy Chief of Staff
Ms. Kim facilitates the strategic planning process, supports President Ferguson’s communications with APU constituencies, and partners with Dr. Barton in resourcing the President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees. With an education background in the liberal arts and theology, Ms. Kim brings more than a decade of experience in academic assessment, planning and budget management, and engagement with the donor community within private higher education.
Daren Bachman, M.A.
Director of Events, Office of the President
Mr. Bachman brings extensive programming and event experience in university, church, and nonprofit ministry settings to his role supporting the Office of the President, Board of Trustees, and other university initiatives. He thrives on creating opportunities for people to connect, learn, and celebrate life to the fullest.
Teri Griffith, M.Ed.
Executive Assistant, Office of the President
Ms. Griffith manages the daily operations of the Office of the President and coordinates the campus engagement of President Ferguson and Dr. Barton. She also provides organizational support to the President’s Cabinet and Board of Trustees. Ms. Griffith has 14 years of experience working in higher education.
