Tolulope Noah is a passionate educator and assistant professor in the Liberal Studies/Undergraduate Education K-8 department. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at APU in 2004. Immediately after graduating from APU, Noah became a full‐time teacher through Teach for America, the national corps of recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in urban and rural schools in an effort to close the achievement gap. Noah taught 6th grade at a public, inner-city middle school in Los Angeles from 2004–07, and was awarded the 2006 Teacher of the Year at the school. From 2007–13, Noah taught 5th and 6th grade at an independent elementary school in Los Angeles that mainstreams students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. Her nine years of teaching experience in both public and private school settings has given her the opportunity to work with diverse populations of students and parents.

Noah has served in multiple leadership positions related to pre-service teacher training and in-service teacher professional development. She was a curriculum specialist for one of Teach for America’s intensive summer teacher-training institutes, a role that entailed teaching pedagogical sessions about instructional planning, student and family investment, classroom management, and cultural diversity to TFA’s newest corps members. Noah also served as a Professional Learning Community Facilitator for TFA, facilitating monthly professional development meetings about effective curriculum development, assessment strategies, and instructional strategies for beginning teachers. These and other leadership experiences have enabled her to develop a deeper understanding of the needs of teachers and strategies to help them become more effective educators.
