Preparing Leaders to Make a Difference in Public Affairs

Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Public Affairs in Sacramento offers a meeting place for students and leaders who seek to influence public affairs from a values-based perspective, as well as a venue for thoughtful civic discourse. The center is the first of its kind in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), and offers unique programs integrating excellent training in the theory and practice of public service stemming from a robust cross-disciplinary research agenda, while remaining grounded in the Christian tradition.

The Center for Public Affairs will house two distinct applied academic programs: a semester-long study away experience for APU undergraduates, and a Master of Public Administration degree.

Vision and Mission

Azusa Pacific’s Center for Public Affairs aims to be:

  • An interdisciplinary research center that examines local government challenges in the fifth largest economy in the world.
  • An immersive learning environment that provides internship and study away opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a variety of programs.
  • A safe space for dialogue, leadership cultivation, and professional development for California’s residents, elected officials, business leaders, private and public sector employees, and nonprofit and community-based organizations.
  • A supportive partner that engages with cities, counties, and community members in order to help meet local needs by providing excellent legislative analysis and program evaluation.
