  • Acting for the Stage and Screen Major

    This program prepares students for professional acting careers, as well as graduate studies in performance.

  • Animation and Visual Effects Major

    The Bachelor of Arts in Animation and Visual Effects will prepare you to make a difference as a skilled animator and storyteller in an influential industry. Hone your artistic ability with courses covering animation’s many facets while making use of a state of the art animation lab, and cultivate your narrative techniques with a comprehensive cinematic arts curriculum.

  • Art Education, M.A. (online)

    The Master of Arts in Art Education program is a 30-hour low-residency degree for artists who love to teach. Designed for working professionals and busy educators who enjoy making and teaching art, students benefit from the convenience of online courses and two one-week summer intensive practicums at APU’s main campus in Azusa.

    Students take courses that provide a broad groundwork in the arts and select an area of specialization, choosing from a variety of courses to streamline their skills.

  • Cinematic Arts Major

    The Cinematic Arts major offers four concentrations: Animation, Critical Studies, Entertainment Executive, and Production/Post. A minor is also available in Critical Studies.

  • Cinematic Arts Production Major

    The Cinematic Arts Production major is a robust BFA degree program that equips students with a range of production skills spanning producing, directing, cinematography, and editing.

  • Design Studies Major

    The design studies major prepares students to think creatively about visual communication challenges by gaining experience in print design, digital and UIUX design, and applying it to developing branding systems.

  • Games and Interactive Media Major

    Games and Interactive Media students benefit from a well-rounded curriculum integrating storytelling, game mechanics, and technical art, preparing them for careers in the video game and interactive media industry.

  • MFA in Visual Art

    APU’s 37-month, low-residency MFA program accommodates the working artist/educator and centers primarily on studio activity and the integration of faith and art. Students engage in highly collaborative relationships with MFA program mentor-professors, enabling artists to hone their talent through critique and individual instruction.

    APU’s Online M.A. in Modern Art History, Theory, and Criticism is an innovative 24-month program that offers a specialized program in modernism while blending courses in contemporary theory and the practice of art criticism. The program cultivates expertise through a framework of aesthetic understanding and scholarly analysis.

    The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Screenwriting degree is an intensive four-year training program designed to equip students for professional writing careers in the entertainment industry.

    The master’s in screenwriting program prepares writers with literary talent and strong motivation to tell substantive stories that point audiences toward truth and beauty, while exploring the dialogue between faith and cinematic arts.

  • Theater Arts Major

    This program offers a broad range of courses that focus on education, design and technical production, directing, playwriting, drama ministry, and theater for social change.

  • Visual Art Major

    The BFA is the undergraduate degree highly desired by students serious about pursuing careers or advanced degrees in the visual arts. Students in this program have the flexibility to choose the concentration that is best suited to their academic and career goals.
