Message from the Director

Welcome to Academic Service-Learning within the Center for Career and Community-Engaged Learning at Azusa Pacific University, where the Four Cornerstones—Christ, Scholarship, Community, and Service—connect! Each year, nearly 3,500 students across 24 disciplines have the opportunity to participate in the high impact practice of experiential learning through a variety of academic service-learning courses. The evaluation responses from students consistently indicate that these service-learning experiences deepen learning, impact faith, enrich intercultural competence, encourage civic commitment, and strengthen employability.

This large-scale impact would not be possible without the partnership and investment of committed faculty, staff, and community partners. Academic service-learning is characterized by cooperative and collaborative relationships between faculty and community partners in providing educational experiences for students that benefit the community in meaningful ways. Our Center goals are to advocate for the impact of service-learning, collaborate with campus and community partners in providing excellent student learning experiences, and support faculty and community partners as they serve as co-educators.

Thank you for visiting. We invite you to explore the programs and research offered by the Center and check back in for updates throughout the year.
