About Student Life
Student Life personnel and programs create environments and experiences that assist students to develop a commitment to lifelong learning built on the following values.
Spiritual Formation: As disciples, we will endeavor to place Christ as central to the work of student development at APU. We will take seriously individual and corporate spiritual formation and will prioritize participation in a local community of faith.
Community: As members of the Body of Christ, we will model civility in our relationships with others. We will take the initiative to maintain an intentional community marked by open, honest communication, collaboration and compassion.
Local and Global Engagement: As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we will value our neighbors and show genuine concern for and engagement with the “other” in the context of an increasingly global society.
Diversity: We will pursue intercultural competence and maturity by developing opportunities that challenge and encourage faculty, staff and students to interact with and respond to people and perspectives different from their own.
Wellness: We will assist students in identifying and operating out of their personal strengths, and will provide environments and experiences that will enable students to thrive personally, academically, and vocationally.
Academic Bridging: As educators, we will contribute to a campus culture of scholarship by engaging faculty, staff, and students in co-curricular learning and connecting classroom learning with out-of-class experiences.
Stewardship: We will make revenue, resource and programmatic decisions that are mission driven and data informed. We will advocate for, create, and maintain spaces on campus that promote a sense of Christian community, emphasizing personal safety and regulatory compliance.
