Q & A with Aubrey

How has APU transformed you?
APU has transformed me tremendously! I grew up in the Church and had a relationship with God, but it wasn’t until I came to Azusa Pacific that my faith and thirst for God grew deeper. In my time here, I rededicated my life to God by getting baptized again and gained a great group of friends to help support me in my life journey. Academically, I was challenged to step out of my comfort zone and think outside the box, which allowed me to grow, as well as find my own understanding. This place is truly one of a kind, and I am blessed to be able to continue being a part of it.
Which activities at APU have you most enjoyed being a part of?
I truly enjoyed being a part of the APU football team. As a student-athlete, I built lifelong friendships and won a couple championships. Also, I had the pleasure of being a part of Black Student Association, where I met and worked with people to promote love and unity. Both of these avenues allowed me to create lasting memories that I will cherish for a lifetime.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
The best advice I can give is to be open to feeling uncomfortable. Whichever school you ultimately decide to attend, there will be times where you feel out of your comfort zone; embrace that feeling, because that is where true growth occurs. God can even use these uncomfortable moments to reveal the specific calling He has chosen for your life.
How do you spend your free time?
In my spare time, I enjoy embarking on occasional spontaneous adventures with close friends and family. I also enjoy poetry, good music, and watching or playing basketball and football.
