Anupama Jacob, PhD
Director of Student Research
Professor of Social Work
Anupama Jacob, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Social Work program. She served as APU’s interim director of undergraduate research in fall 2019. She teaches applied research in the undergraduate and graduate social work programs at APU. Jacob also served as a commissioner for six years on the Commission on Research, part of the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting body for the social work profession.
Jacob earned a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research interests center on issues related to poverty and inequality, particularly in the United States. Prior to starting her PhD program, Jacob worked as publications manager at the Center for Social Development, a research and policy center based at Washington University in St. Louis. In addition to her work at APU, she serves on the board of a local Christian nonprofit organization that provides resources and services to families in need in the community.
