Application and Hiring Procedure
All candidates must submit an online employment application and supporting documents as needed using our online application platform. A cover letter and/or resume or curriculum vitae may also be submitted and are highly recommended.
To be considered for multiple positions, applicants need only to submit one application, and list additional positions of interest in the field provided. If a position of interest becomes available in the future, applicants may submit a new application or contact the Office of Human Resources to have their application duplicated for consideration in the new candidate pool.
Applicants must complete all sections of the application, including educational background, employment history, and references. Additionally, all faculty applicants must complete four essay questions detailed in the application instructions.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Applications are tracked by the Human Resources database and screened on a regular basis. You will receive a system-generated response indicating successful submission of your application.
Please note that, by policy, the Office of Human Resources does not disclose the stage of an application in the screening process.
Interviews will be coordinated by the hiring manager and the Office of Human Resources. Interviews may be conducted via telephone, Skype, or in person at our offices in San Dimas, California.
Candidates not selected for an interview will receive communication via email from the Office of Human Resources. Additionally, remaining candidates will receive an email when a position has been filled.
A total of three references will be contacted for final candidates. Reference checks may be completed by the Human Resources representative and/or in coordination with the hiring manager.
The UC representative conducting the reference check will use the contact information provided in the initial application unless otherwise instructed. It is the responsibility of the candidate to update any references prior to this stage where applicable.
All employment opportunities with University College are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
Background checks are conducted using a third-party, web-based service provider. Background checks may include, but are not limited to: federal, state, and county criminal records; DMV records; credit history; employment verification; and education verification.
Offer of Employment
Once all employment considerations have been approved by the Office of Human Resources and the department head, an offer of employment may be extended to the selected candidate.
New Employee Orientation
Once a verbal offer is accepted by a candidate, the Office of Human Resources will coordinate new hire orientation with the candidate, including start date and hire paperwork.
All new hires are required to provide the appropriate documentation as detailed in Form I-9: Employment Eligibility Verification to verify their eligibility to work in the United States within three days of their hire date. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
