Biography

Jay New is an assistant professor in the Department of Cinematic Arts. He completed his Master of Fine Arts in Film and TV Production at the University of Southern California in 2012. He has worked as an educator since 2003, and in film production since 2006 for Nickelodeon, Reel EFX, BET, and NBA2K, as well as on numerous commercials, music videos, shows, and features. As a writer, director, or producer, his films have screened at Short Corner of Cannes, Youth Film Fest Beijing, Washington DC Deaf Film Fest, and others.

Jay also maintains part-time endeavors in mathematics, and his ongoing investigation centers around combining and consulting with the scientific community on advancing our understanding of aesthetics.
