Welcome Weekend is your personal introduction to the APU community. This is your opportunity to receive answers to your spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social questions. Even if you have had siblings attend APU, you will not want to miss Welcome Weekend. APU is an ever-evolving community that develops new information, resources, opportunities, and policies.
All students, family members, and guests must register for Welcome Weekend. You can register with your new student APU Network ID (APU NetID) login information for Welcome Weekend by visiting the Welcome Weekend page and completing the registration form.

Welcome Weekend registration must be completed using your student APU NetID login account information. If you would like to register additional guests after you’ve completed your initial registration, email [email protected] immediately for assistance.

Incoming students attend for free. Guests are $60 per person.
Children age 10 and under may attend for free.
The Welcome Weekend fee covers a variety of components including on-campus meals, a Welcome Weekend T-shirt, campus resources, and activities.
No. Welcome Weekend registration is required only for families and guests planning to participate in the full Welcome Weekend program.
Formal programming for parents and families concludes at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, August 25, but you will have time following the end of the program to spend with your student and wrap up any details before leaving. Student programming resumes at 2 p.m.

Welcome Weekend is required for all new students, including commuter students, and we offer sessions for various student groups. Review the schedule to plan accordingly. If you have questions about Commuter Life, call (626) 812-3032 or email [email protected] for further assistance.
All incoming students, including transfer students, are required to attend Welcome Weekend. We offer sessions throughout the day that will help you successfully transition to APU.
Students’ families and guests are welcome and encouraged to stay at a local hotel. If you are a residential student, you can move into your on-campus housing assignment beginning at 8:30 a.m. Friday, August 23. If you are an athlete, a student employee, or in a music ensemble, you will receive move-in instructions from those specific departments. We highly encourage all students and guests to attend the entirety of Welcome Weekend, but we understand that this is not always possible. Late check-in will be available on West Campus from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
Yes, meal tickets can be purchased at time of check-in.
An Alpha Group is a small group of incoming students organized by major and led by an upperclassman through the first six weeks at APU. You will have numerous opportunities to meet with your group during Welcome Weekend before classes begin, and this group will be a source of support and community as you navigate your first semester at APU. Alpha Group assignments will be provided during Welcome Weekend check-in.
During Welcome Weekend check-in, you will receive an APU NetID that will give you access to the university’s student network services, such as the university portal, library research resources, and the APU wireless network. Once you arrive on campus, simply open your preferred Web browser, then log in with the APU NetID you receive at check-in. Learn more about connecting to APU WIFI.
