Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we make our plans?

Our office can usually accommodate same-day campus tour requests, but please call ahead to confirm.

A three-day courtesy is appreciated when requesting to meet with an admissions counselor. Without that, we may possibly have someone available to meet with you, but due to high demand, we cannot guarantee availability. We strongly recommend making an appointment with a counselor in advance.

All requests to sit in on a class, meet with faculty, or spend the night on campus need to be made at least two weeks in advance through our online request form.

When is the best time to visit campus?

Hands down, the best campus visits take place on a weekday during the academic year. Visits during this time allow you to attend chapel, visit a class, and spend a night in the residence halls.

However, our office is open year-round for your convenience.

Is housing available for campus guests?

Yes! And we highly recommend it! Spending a night on campus is one of the best ways to gain a valuable sense of our community.

All visiting students will be housed with a current freshman in one of our four first-year residence halls. Our rooms do not come equipped with extra beds, so please come prepared with your own sleeping bag, pillow, and maybe an air mattress.

Please keep in mind that housing is limited to prospective undergraduate students only. Parents visiting APU with their student should arrange to stay in a local hotel.

I know a current student at APU. Can I request to stay with him/her?

We have a team of enthusiastic freshman ambassadors who would love to share their home away from home with you for a night or two, and be your host around campus.

If you would prefer to stay with a friend who is a current APU student, we request that you make those arrangements on your own. Unfortunately, federal guidelines do not allow us to share information about our students, including contact information or where they live on-campus.

Is airport transportation provided?

Transportation is provided for students traveling without their parents from/to Ontario or Burbank airports. If you are traveling with your parents, rental cars and private taxi/shuttle services are available at the airport.

At this time, we are unable to accommodate transportation from/to any other Southern California airport.

Can I meet with a coach from one of APU’s athletic teams?

APU’s coaching staff is very willing to meet with interested prospective student athletes. However, due to the high level of inquiries the athletics department receives, it is not possible to accommodate all requests.

Our coaches will give priority to meeting requests from those who have completed the recruitment steps as outlined on their team website. Refer to the recruitment page for your sport of interest for further details.

For contact information, visit the athletics department directory.

Can I meet with someone to talk about financial aid?

Financial Aid is discussed in all tour information sessions and questions are addressed by a seasoned admissions counselor.

For those students making an individual counselor appointment, financial aid will be a topic of discussion for you when you meet with your counselor.
