Kendra Delahooke ’16 Is Changing the Future of Child Therapy

For Kendra Delahooke ’16, LMFT, helping children heal starts with understanding the whole family. As founder and CEO of Child Therapy Center, she is redefining mental health care through neuroscience-informed therapy, parent involvement, and spaces intentionally designed for growth. “When we intervene early, we can completely change the trajectory of their lives,” said Delahooke. From the classroom at APU to expanding Child Therapy Center across the nation, Delahooke is helping children and families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and discover hope through healing.

Sarah Richart, PhD, professor in the Department of Biology and Chemistry, emphasizes that science is an exploration of God’s creation. “When we study biology, we’re studying God’s creation,” said Richart. “It gives us a glimpse into His design, often inspiring awe, reverence, and worship.”

APU Community Counseling Center Offers Affordable and Accessible Support to Community Members

Founded in 1988, APU’s Community Counseling Center continues to provide affordable mental health support to the Azusa community while preparing future clinicians through hands-on experience. Gregory Sanchez ’29, a PsyD student trainee at the CCC, said his experience at the clinic has played a significant role in preparing him for a future career in clinical psychology. “My time at the Azusa Pacific Community Counseling Center has been instrumental in developing my skills as a future clinical psychologist,” said Sanchez.
