Joy M. Bustrum, Psy.D., is a professor in the Department of Graduate Psychology at Azusa Pacific University. Dr. Bustrum also serves as the director of diversity and is involved in coordination of the psychodynamic systems of psychotherapy concentration. Each summer, she co-leads a group of students to Kenya, East Africa, where she supervises them as they gain clinical hours working with HIV/AIDS orphans and adults in one of Africa’s largest slums. Currently, Dr. Bustrum maintains a private practice for adults in Pasadena. Her research interests address the areas of psychotherapy with the severely mentally ill and the intersection between relational psychoanalysis and multicultural theory and practice.
