About the Program

Why This Major Is Relevant

In an increasingly digital age, the use, analysis, and interpretation of numbers are critical to every aspect of our society. Likewise, the intersection of numbers with the physical world is fundamental to everything from the development of computer chips to alternate fuels, space flight to climate change. APU math/physics majors gain analytical, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving skills that make them uniquely prepared to tackle complex problems in a wide variety of fields.

Gain In-Depth Learning Experiences

APU math/physics students often secure internships conducting research at Wynn Oil Company and the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Projects include applied research and computational simulations of resonating devices. Internships ensure that math/physics majors graduate with contacts in their chosen field, solid evidence of their skills, and substantial experience on their résumés.
