Biography

Dayna Holt has been a pediatric nurse for over 35 years, and a pediatric vascular access specialist for 22 years. She holds 2 national certifications: VA-BC, and CPN. She has been extensively involved in clinical education and quality improvement in clinical practice. She currently teaches full-time in the entry level master's program. She has published in the field of vascular access. Her current research interests continue to be in the field of pediatric vascular access.

Holt holds to a Christian worldview and highly values the servant-leader role. The ability to share spiritual values in nursing practice with students is truly a blessing. She especially values Watson's theory of human caring as it informs the pediatric patient and family-centered care, and her teaching practice. She has contributed to global nursing education, during short-term trips to Vietnam and when hosting international professionals in San Diego. She enjoys research and the practical application of nursing research to improve clinical care through evidence-based practice. Holt feels very blessed to have the privilege of teaching and mentoring students, our future nurse colleagues.
