Sarah Richart, PhD, is a professor and microbiologist in the Department of Biology and Chemistry at APU. She studied virology as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
Since then, Richart’s research focus has shifted to studying the host-pathogen interactions between a species of fungus its insect hosts.
Other research interests include the history of public responses to vaccines prior to Jenner’s cowpox vaccine for smallpox, microorganisms and global change, and creation theology, especially human’s relation to non-human creation.
Richart serves as the program director for the Environmental Studies Minor, and as faculty advisor for the Pre-Veterinary Club (the Pre-Vet Project) and the Pre-Dental Club at APU.
