Application Process
Prospective students begin the application process by submitting an application, the application fee, and proof of an earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university with a minimum 2.5 GPA. This is the minimum required to begin taking courses while in the application process. Doctoral, business and management, education, and behavioral and applied sciences programs do not allow applicants to take courses until admitted.
Additional items are required (determined by program) to complete the graduate application. Typically these include a letter to the dean, official transcripts that show college course work completed, letters of recommendation, and statement of experience or résumé. Please refer to program descriptions to verify program-specific application requirements. These items must all be submitted to the Graduate Center to complete the application process.
The graduate application is available online and in a print version. The online graduate application is available at the APU website, and submission of the application online requires credit card payment of the application fee at the time of submission. The graduate application and other program-specific forms are also available in PDF for download at www.apu.edu/apply/dom/grad/. Printed applications may be obtained and/or submitted either in person or by mail through the Graduate Center or an APU Regional Center.
It is recommended that students submit their application at least two months prior to the term they wish to attend. This ensures the best possible service and allows appropriate time to process financial aid.
The application fee is waived for Operation Impact students and alumni who have earned a degree previously from APU.
Adult and Professional Studies Program Students
Students seeking enrollment in any of APU's Adult and Professional Studies programs must contact the Center for Adult and Professional Studies. For more information, visit www.apu.edu/caps/.
International Students
International applicants have a separate admissions process. For more information, visit the International Center website at www.apu.edu/international/.
Program-Specific Applications
Department-specific admission requirements are available online, in the current Graduate Catalog, or by contacting a graduate admissions enrollment counselor.
Graduate program acceptance is part of the university admission process. Once the applicant's file is complete, with all items required submitted in full, the file is forwarded to the department for a program acceptance decision. The department notifies the Office of Graduate Admissions which in turn notifies the applicant. Please visit www.apu.edu/apply/dom/grad to download an application or other important forms specific to your program.
University Application Deadlines
APU has a rolling admission process for university admission, meaning that applications are continuously accepted and processed. It is recommended that applications be submitted two months prior to the semester's classes to allow for processing. (This is only a recommendation; not a deadline.) Some programs have specific application deadlines. Please contact an admissions counselor to verify these dates.
Program Deadlines
The School of Nursing and the Departments of Art, Psychology, and Physical Therapy each have an application deadline. Please contact a graduate admissions enrollment counselor or academic department for specific dates.
