Hartwig seeks to serve incoming students by equipping them with the necessary academic skills to succeed in a collegiate setting. Before coming to APU, Hartwig taught writing composition classes at Colorado Christian University, and English as a Second Language at Purdue University, Colorado Christian University, and in Japan. In addition, she taught and served as an educational specialist for students with a variety of learning disabilities and difficulties, including those with dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, and mild autism.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Jill and her husband, Ryan, are blessed with four children, who keep them feeling thankful and slightly insane every day. They enjoy traveling as often as possible. Jill is involved at Foothill Church, where she sings on the worship team and hangs out with kids. She enjoys playing soccer, running, cooking, reading, indulging her addiction to coffee, and hanging out with friends.
Hartwig has taught reading and writing courses for multiple ability levels in various contexts. In her teaching, Hartwig seeks to inspire, educate, equip, and prepare her students for successful college reading and writing experiences.
