Faculty and Staff
While they are employed at APU, faculty and staff have access to a large collection of print and online materials. Current employees are automatically entered into the Libraries’ circulation database, which allows them to check out books and media and access online materials. Material check-out periods are as follows:
|Full-time and Adjunct Faculty||Staff||Faculty Emeritus|
|Book checkout period||90 days||90 days||28 days|
|Media Checkout period||14 days||14 days||2 days|
|Number of renewals||2||2||4|
|LINK+ book checkout period||21 days||21 days||21 days|
|LINK+ media checkout period||7 days||7 days||7 days|
|LINK+ book renewal (media items may not be renewed)||21 days||21 days||21 days|
Items can be renewed through an employees's online library account.
Faculty members may place volumes from the APU collections, personal copies of books and photocopies of journal articles on Reserve for the special limited use of the students in their classes. A Reserve Request Form must be completed for each course that will have materials placed on the Reserve Desk. Requests to have materials placed on Reserve should be made at least 72 hours before the items are needed; this time is necessary for the Circulation staff to prepare the materials for use.
For more information on reserve policies, copyright guidelines, and the Reserve Request Forms, see the Course Reserves page.
Suggest Materials for Purchase
Faculty members may request materials to be purchased for the libraries' collections by contacting the subject specialist for their department, or by completing the online purchase request form.
Schedule a Library Instruction Session
Through the Library Instruction Program, librarians offer instruction sessions covering research strategies, information literacy, and online and printed resources. To arrange a library session, contact the subject specialist for your department, or fill out the online library instruction request form.
Regional Campus, Online, and Off-campus Faculty and Staff
APU Regional Campus, online, and off campus students, faculty, and staff hold the same privileges and responsibilities as Azusa campus patrons, but their materials will be mailed (books, media, and kits) or emailed (articles) from the Azusa campus libraries. Mailing is free of charge, and pre-paid return envelopes are included.
Books and media may be requested by selecting "By Mail" as the pickup location on the request screen in the library catalog. Articles may be requested through the ArticleReach option in the library's databases and via the Article Finder form. More information is available on the Interlibrary Services page. Please call (626) 815-6000, Ext. 3272 for any other questions regarding these transactions.
