Your APU Enrollment Checklist
Your Enrollment Checklist Starts Here
A brand-new chapter awaits! We’re thrilled you’re writing your next story at Azusa Pacific University. To make your transition effortless, we’ve organized your next steps into a few simple action items. Complete these to set the stage for an unforgettable first day.
1. Secure Your Spot
Ready to commit? Submit your enrollment deposit via the application portal. This single step makes your APU journey official and unlocks all the remaining steps.
You’ve made your deposit. Now keep the momentum going! To unlock advising and class registration, complete these next two actions in this exact order.

2. Lock it Down (APU Cougarlock)
Protect your new digital life. Secure your APU accounts by setting up your multi-factor authentication through APU’s Cougarlock. Cougarlock adds an extra layer of security by requiring more than just a password to access an account. It helps protect your information, even if your password gets stolen.
3. Access Your Student Portal (home.apu.edu)
Grab the unique APU ID we sent to your email and log in to your main student portal at home.apu.edu. This is your hub for registering for classes, managing payments, checking off tasks, and more!
4. Register for APU Bound
Join other new students for orientation, where our staff will walk you through registering for fall semester classes.
Once you’ve registered for APU Bound, your next step is to complete your new student assessments. You can find these in your application portal. The assessments assigned to you will guide your next steps, so be sure to review and complete each one.
Be sure to submit records of any completed pre-college coursework so we can best advise your schedule.
- AP Exams: These can be ordered from the College Board to be sent directly to APU.
- IB (International Bacculaureate) Transcripts: These can be submitted on the IB Website to be sent directly to APU.
- CLEP Exam Scores: These can be ordered from the College Board CLEP website to be sent directly to APU.
- Dual Enrollment: If you have Dual Enrollment credits, you’ll need to submit your official college dual enrollment transcripts through your enrolled college.
In-Progress Classes
Be sure to bring your list of any in-progress classes with you to APU BoundYour official Student ID photo will be taken during APU Bound, so come prepared!
Can’t Attend APU Bound in person?
If you are unable to attend an in-person APU Bound event, don’t worry, you can still attend an APU Bound Virtual Student Orientation.
5. Complete Financial Aid
If offered Direct, Parent PLUS, or Alternative Loans through your FAFSA, accept or decline them based on your needs. You can review your loan options by visiting your student portal (home.apu.edu).
Research and Apply for Scholarships
In addition to your automatically applied merit-based Financial Aid Package, APU’s ScholarshipUniverse is a powerful tool that helps students easily find and apply for APU and external scholarships—all in one place.
Grant APU permission to share details of your account with authorized individuals (like parents). To sign your authorization, navigate to home.apu.edu, login to your account, click “My Profile”, and then click “FERPA Authorization”.
For those who are not US citizens or eligible non-citizens, you are not eligible for federal financial aid, but you may still qualify for state or institutional aid. That would require you to complete the DREAM Act application. It requires similar information to the FAFSA. The information provided is only used to determine eligibility for financial aid. https://dream.csac.ca.gov/landing
6. Apply for Housing and Dining Options
Apply for Campus Housing or Commuter Status
Learn more about your housing options and use the APU Housing Portal to request housing or officially request to be a commuter. Watch your APU email in July for your housing assignment and roommate information!
Choose a Dining Plan (Transfer Students)
Incoming transfer students living in residence halls are automatically enrolled in Cougar Plan C. Apartment residents can opt-in to a plan via the Student Portal (home.apu.edu).
7. Complete Billing Tasks
Sign Up for a Payment Plan
Use PayMyTuition to set up a payment plan if you prefer not to pay in full at the beginning of the semester. Your first payment is typically due August 1. Navigate to your Student Portal (home.apu.edu), click “Financials” in the Menu Tab, and then click “Billing and Payment”.
Set Up Authorized Payers and Electronic Funds Transfer
Allow parents/spouses to view statements and make payments, and enroll in direct deposit so any account refunds go straight to your bank account.
Submit Your Health Insurance Waiver
If you already have Cover California-compatible health insurance, you can waive the university's health insurance charge to save money. (Recommended by June 30). To submit your waiver visit student health insurance, where you can follow the steps to request your waiver.
8. Finalize Your Student Profile
Submit Immunization Records
Login to your Student Portal (home.apu.edu), navigate to "MyCougar Health" under Student Resources, and follow instructions to upload your required records.
