Great Places to Do Homework in the Azusa Community

by Brendan Fretwell

Students can often feel stuck in the same routine in terms of where they complete their homework. Whether that be in one of the usual spots like the campus libraries, common eating areas, dorms, or even at one of the many tables located outside, sometimes finding a new place to do homework with refreshing scenery can be a huge help to both productivity and overall enjoyment. Getting off of APU’s campus to do homework is a great opportunity to switch things up their homework routine that has become stale.

Here are some of the best places in the Azusa community to get work done while enjoying some great food, drink, and atmosphere.

aDosage Coffee

One of the lesser-known coffee shops in the Azusa area, aDosage Coffee provides a quaint and quiet atmosphere that promotes productivity. It has a plethora of food and drink items and is open 12 hours a day for most of the week, so students have plenty of time to focus on homework. aDosage prides itself not only on its comfortable space but also its wonderful menu, which includes coffee, tea, pastries, and many different lunch dishes. Students will find they can’t go wrong enjoying the food and drink that aDosage Coffee has to offer while getting some much-needed work done in the process.

Café Bungalow

Located near aDosage Coffee and Chick-Fil-A in Azusa, Café Bungalow is a terrific place to focus on homework despite providing more of a restaurant-style atmosphere. It offers plenty of seating, making it especially great for group projects or group homework sessions. Café Bungalow boasts a large menu with many food and drink options, but it’s best known for its boba and wide variety of macaroons, so these items are a must-try when visiting.

Chick-fil-A

Probably the most popular off-campus spot for APU students, the Chick-fil-A in Azusa has been providing students with great food for years. It breaks away from the traditional homework spots involving coffee, and this particular location has even earned the nickname “South Campus”, referencing APU’s own West and East campuses. Chick-fil-A provides great food, indoor and outdoor seating, and it accepts Cougar Bucks as an additional convenience to APU students.

Classic Coffee

Located on Glendora Avenue in Glendora, Classic Coffee is just a short drive or bike-ride away from APU’s campuses. It’s a popular spot for students of both Citrus College and APU, with both indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of food and drink items available. Going midday, students will find this place packed. But in the early or late hours of the day, Classic Coffee provides a terrific atmosphere to do homework and study.

Yureka Café

A smaller coffee shop located in the Azusa community, Yureka Café does not provide a lot of seating. However, on a quiet day, this spot is perfect for focusing on homework. With many different types of coffee, boba, smoothies, and tea as well as food items, the menu at Yureka is extensive. Yureka is a popular spot with its customers, and it takes pride in its ability to be a productivity-oriented coffee shop that accommodates both groups of students as well as those on their own. However, Yureka does house a putting green behind its shop where patrons can practice their short-game, so it may not be the best choice for a distraction-free environment.

Mantra Coffee

This coffee shop is a repurposed house located in Azusa, giving it a truly homey feeling. Mantra Coffee provides student-friendly hours ranging from 7 a.m. to midnight, so there is plenty of time to get over to this coffee spot even if a student’s homework time happens to be later in the evening. With plenty of seating and a secluded yet comfortable environment, Mantra Coffee is certainly one of the more popular hangout spots in Azusa for anyone looking for a quiet spot to focus. It serves delicious coffee and pastry items to make every student’s homework experience more enjoyable.
