Tech Tips for Welcome Weekend

by Savannah Lawrence

Welcome Weekend is right around the corner, and the Azusa Pacific community can’t wait to welcome new undergraduate students to campus. If you’re a new student or parent or family member, the events held throughout the week are fun, informational, and designed to create memorable experiences as you officially start your APU journey. With a plethora of events to attend, technology will be your best friend, helping you manage your time and know where and when each event takes place.

Download the APU Events App

Start by downloading the APU Events app (available in the App Store and Google Play) on your mobile devices to prepare for all the amazing programming during Welcome Weekend. You can use the tools inside the app to:

See Event Schedules and Plan Your Days: The entire schedule for the week is outlined for you, including event descriptions. Once you are ready to choose the events you plan to attend, you’ll be able to bookmark them for later reference.

Get Around with Campus Maps: After you plan out your schedule, the campus map provides directions to help get you where you need to go around APU. Locate your residence hall, find your way to the University Bookstore, and explore Cougar Walk for the first time. When it comes to transportation, the app also has a feature that enables you to locate parking on and around the APU campus.

Additional Tech Tools

Follow Along on Social Media: Following APU’s social media accounts is a great way to stay up-to-date with key information and event highlights happening across campus. APU is on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. And remember to use #iheartAPU to join the conversation and share your own special moments and memories of Welcome Weekend.

APU Mobile App and Trolley Tracker: The APU Mobile app is a great tool for students to use year-round. Through the app, you can register for classes, view your class schedule, see your Cougar Bucks balance, and more. One of the best features is the Trolley Tracker, which allows you to view real-time locations for each of the trolleys, see when the trolley driver takes a break, and view fast updates. This feature is helpful for students traveling between events during Welcome Weekend and getting to and from classes.

Support Center: If you need help with your laptop or computer, such as connecting to WIFI or accessing the university portal at home.apu.edu, the IMT Support Center is on-site and available online during Welcome Week. The staff can answer questions and walk you through the steps to get connected.

Computer Store: If you arrive at APU and find you’re missing one of your electronic necessities, like a laptop charger or headphones, there’s no need to worry—the IMT Computer Store has everything you need. Located on West Campus inside the Heritage Court area, the Computer Store offers discounts for APU students on Apple products and peripherals for both Mac and PC.
