Biography

Angela George, PhD, is an assistant professor of Art History in the Department of Art and the director of the Master of Arts program in Modern and Contemporary Art History. She earned a PhD in Art History from the University of Maryland, and she focuses on American art, modern art, museum studies, and decorative arts/design history.

She has presented at academic and professional conferences on art history and museum studies. She has also co-authored a book highlighting the art collections in the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Hagerstown, Maryland. She has held positions in the curatorial departments of various museums, including the National Gallery of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Hillwood Museum & Gardens, and the Gamble House/USC.
