Beth Chouinard-Mitchell, DMA, is a highly accomplished tubist with an extensive international career. Before settling in Los Angeles, she served as principal tubist with the Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra in San Francisco and as principal sub for the Orquesta Sinfónica de Monterrey in Mexico. She has performed with prestigious ensembles such as the Los Angeles Opera, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, and Germany’s Eurobrass, and has toured across the U.S., Europe, the South Pacific, and the Middle East.
Locally, Mitchell maintains an active freelance career, performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philharmonic Society of Orange County, and the Disneyland Band, among others. She is also a sought-after performer and educator, giving masterclasses and recitals throughout Southern California.
Internationally, Mitchell is recognized as a solo recital artist and teacher, regularly performing and offering workshops worldwide. She is the founder of Music Matters Global, an organization dedicated to bringing music education and concerts to disadvantaged regions.
Mitchell has published a set of etude books for euphonium and tuba, Advanced Etudes (available on Amazon) and is working on a historical guide to playing the baroque serpent. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory and USC, she holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Tuba Performance and teaches at Pasadena City College and Azusa Pacific University. She is also an international performing artist for Eastman Winds.
