Adam Shebindu, PhD
Assistant Professor
Adam Heritier Shebindu, PhD, MBA, is a biomedical engineer, educator, author, and entrepreneur working at the intersection of microfluidics, translational immunology, and intelligent biomedical systems. He earned a BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University, and his concurrent PhD in Biomedical Engineering and MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he also conducted research at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
As founding director of the Shebindu Intelligent Microphysiological Systems (SIMS) Lab at Azusa Pacific University, he develops programmable organ-on-a-chip platforms to study how immune cells behave, diseases progress, and therapies work. His current research focuses on leukocyte dysfunction, vascular inflammation, human-on-chip systems, and AI-enabled diagnostics for high-acuity clinical settings and low-resource global health environments.
Beyond the lab, Shebindu co-founded the Centre de Recherche Interdisciplinaire des Grands Lacs en Afrique (CRI-GLA) to strengthen scientific research and innovation across the African Great Lakes region, and founded Bora Technology to expand access to science, technology, and AI-driven solutions through education and entrepreneurship. He is also the author of Raise Your Hand (independently published, 2026).
