Tom Hynes, MA, is a professional guitarist, composer, clinician, and educator. His freelance credits include Bob Hope, The Fifth Dimension, Frederica Von Stade, Liza Minelli, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vinton and the Pacific, and the Santa Barbara and Bakersfield Symphony orchestras. His recording credits include music for the films Bright Angel and Rapid Fire. Jazz credits include 1996 Jazz Ambassadors State Department tour of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Uganda, and Eritrea; the Grammy-nominated Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra albums Refractions and Artistry: A Tribute to Stan Kenton, with guest Hubert Laws; his own jazz recordings The Sun Shop (Chase Music Group); and the self-produced Tom Hynes and Marshall Hawkins: Live at the Fret House. Composition credits include music for short films commissioned by the Smithsonian Institute; Light Screens: Music for the Leaded Glass of Frank Lloyd Wright, commissioned by the Orange County Museum of Art/Philharmonic Society of Orange County; and numerous large jazz ensemble compositions commissioned by colleges, high schools, and middle schools in California. His arrangements for jazz combo and orchestra have been performed by the South Coast Symphony. Tom also serves on the faculties of the Idyllwild Arts Academy and Summer Program, and St. Catherine’s Academy in Anaheim, CA. and has taught at Fullerton, Citrus and Mt. San Antonio Colleges, California State University/Los Angeles, Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), and Northwoods Jazz Camp.
