Seven Must-Know Places on APU’s Campus

by Savannah Lawrence

There’s a saying that nothing worth having ever comes easy, and that can certainly be true while working toward your degree. During your college experience, you may need some extra support. That’s why Azusa Pacific offers resources that can help you throughout the academic year, whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student. From getting advice on your academic plan to taking care of your physical health at the Student Health Center, the resources on APU’s campus are available to help you make the most of your experience and reach your full potential. Here are seven of the must-know places on the APU campus:

Academic Success Center

Location: Modular Offices, Building 30 (East Campus)

Academic advising is available to students through the Academic Success Center, where you can get academic coaching and support to achieve your education goals at APU. You can stop by during office hours or schedule an appointment with an advisor who will assist you in planning your semester schedule and more.

Also housed within the center are Tutoring Services, as well as Testing Services for placement testing and credit by examination, such as CLEP and FLATS testing. All the services here are focused on promoting your academic success.

Career Center

Location: Building 22 (East Campus)

The Career Center offers resources and services to help prepare you for the next step in your vocational journey. Explore job opportunities on the Handshake Career Platform, attend career-focused workshops, get help applying to graduate school, or have a professional headshot taken. Schedule an appointment for career consulting or just drop in—the center provides these services for you to use at any time.

Student Employment

Location: Building 22 (East Campus)

If you are looking for an on-campus job, the Office of Student Employment is the first place you should visit. The office provides you access to all the employment opportunities for students throughout APU’s campus. You can also search and apply for on-campus jobs through Handshake.

Student Health Center

Location: Magnolia Court (East Campus)

APU’s full-service Student Health Center means you can make a medical appointment without ever leaving campus. Get your flu shot or immunizations before you study away, make an appointment for routine women’s health screenings, or talk with a medical professional about any other issues you may be having. Schedule an appointment online via the MyCougar Health Student Portal or by calling (626) 815-2100.

University Counseling Center

Location: Magnolia Court (East Campus)

There are many different reasons to seek counseling while you’re in school. At the University Counseling Center, you have access to affordable one-on-one counseling appointments, as well as groups and workshops focused on stress management, reducing anxiety, and personal growth. Professional Christian counselors will help support you in whatever challenges you’re facing. Start by making an appointment through the MyCougar Health Student Portal.

Writing Center

Location: Marshburn Library, Room 134 (East Campus)

The Writing Center is open to any student, working on any project, at any stage of the writing process. Stuck in the brainstorming stage? Can’t seem to connect your main arguments to your thesis? Need help proofreading? The center’s coaches can help you with any of these writing obstacles and more. There are coaches with a variety of academic backgrounds, including master’s and terminal degrees, so you can find someone who understands your classes and writing style.
