Student Resources: Student Health Center Offers Accessible and Affordable Care for All APU Students
September 30, 2025 | Written By Jacqueline Guerrero

With the busy college lifestyle and adjusting to a new sleep schedule, work load, and living situation, the last thing any student wants to worry about is anything medical. Going to the doctor’s office can be expensive and time consuming, but Azusa Pacific University’s Student Health Center is a free, confidential resource for all students living both on and off campus, regardless of whether or not they have outside health insurance.
The Health Center employs knowledgeable, professional clinicians to assist students with a variety of health and medical needs in person and via Telehealth. Students can visit the Health Center for various reasons including sick visits, muscular and skeletal injuries, women’s health concerns, immunizations, blood draws, and far more. To see the full list of ways the health center can help students, visit their website. “At the Student Health Center, we can help you with anything that you can get done at your regular doctor’s office,” said Gidget Wood ’04, RN, MSN, FNP-C, Student Health Center administrative director. “Our mission is to keep students healthy so that they can be in the classroom and succeed in their education and college experience.”
Utilizing the Student Health Center is a great option that is accessible to students living on campus, as well as commuters.
There are no copays for visiting the Student Health Center, and most of the treatments and tests are free.
Another resource within the Student Health Center that students have access to is the center’s on campus dispensary that keeps more than 40 medications on site. These medications range from amoxicillin and prednisone to asthma inhalers and azithromycin. The Health Center is also dedicated to walking alongside students struggling with mental health and are able to refill ADHD prescriptions and prescribe students anxiety and depression medications from the dispensary. Students can also go to the dispensary for women’s health medication.
Three weeks during each semester, students who have visited the Health Center are sent a patient satisfaction survey conducted by the Office of Institutional Research who sends the data back to the Health Center team deidentified to protect patient privacy. The center has a high satisfaction rate with more than 90 percent of students reporting that they are satisfied with their experience overall, and over 95 percent reporting that they are satisfied in a majority of areas on the survey. The feedback is taken into careful consideration to constantly improve the Health Center’s services to be the most effective, accessible, and helpful it can be for students.
The Student Health Center is located in the Shire Mods in Magnolia Court next to the University Counseling Center (UCC). They are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Students can make appointments online in the Cougar Health Portal at home.apu.edu or on the APU Now app. Students can also call the front desk at (626) 815-2100 or email [email protected] to make an appointment. For those that have follow up questions about an appointment, messages can be sent to providers directly through the Cougar Health Portal. A 24/7 urgent care line is also available after hours so that students can get in contact with a nurse who can answer any questions or concerns. To access the line, call (855) 558-1998.
