George Thomas earned his PhD in Electrical Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and worked 10 years in satellite communications before entering the academia as a faculty member in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, where he taught and conducted research in Communications Engineering. He contributed to and led his department's growth through baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral programs over a span of 28 years and served as department head recently for seven years. He is mainly engaged in developing the engineering program in the Department of Engineering and Computer Science at APU.
