Azusa Pacific University has partnered with Aiberry to provide current students with brief, anonymous screening questionnaires on topics such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Substance use
  • Eating
  • And more

By providing a clearer picture of your mental landscape, Aiberry empowers you to navigate challenges more effectively and to know when to connect with a counselor, ultimately helping you flourish and make the most of your college experience. It’s a quick, easy, and private way to prioritize your mental wellness.

Concerns for Another Student

Urgent Care and Consultation

If you’re worried about a fellow student’s mental health, here’s how to get support:

  • In an Emergency: Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
  • Urgent Care: The UCC offers 24/7 (urgent care services) at (626) 815-2109. Students can also access in-person urgent care during regular business hours. Encourage the student to reach out to us.
  • Consultation: Unsure what to do, or the student won’t reach out? Consult with us to get personalized, concrete suggestions. The UCC offers 24/7 consultation through our urgent care phone service at (626) 815-2109. Students can also access in-person consultation during regular business hours.

Bringing Up Your Concerns

It’s normal to feel nervous about approaching a friend. Here are ways to share your concerns:

  • APU CARES: APU CARES: If you aren't sure where to start, add the student to the APU CARES program for gentle support and connection.
  • “Feel, Felt, Found" Method: Start the conversation gently: “I FEEL how [stressed/down] you’ve been, and I FELT that way too when I was going through something hard. I FOUND that talking to a professional helped. Do you want to go to the UCC with me?”
  • More Tips: For deeper guidance on supporting friends, attend our Cougars Care Workshops or watch recordings on our YouTube channel, especially “Recognizing a Friend in Need” and “Becoming a Better Listener.”

Letters of Encouragement

As a Christ-centered institution, Azusa Pacific is committed to spreading God’s love and encouragement throughout the community, and especially for those who are feeling stressed, pessimistic, overwhelmed, or discouraged. To this end, the UCC conducts an annual Letters of Encouragement initiative, where students are invited to encourage one another by anonymously sharing encouraging letters, student to student.

You can participate in the Letters of Encouragement program by submitting a letter, requesting a letter, or both! Complete our Letters of Encouragement Form to request or submit a letter. We also invite you to read letters that have already been submitted to get ideas and be inspired.
