Andrew Alstot, PhD, joined the APU faculty in 2015 after prior appointments at different institutions as a high school teacher, graduate teaching assistant, and assistant professor. His professional expertise is in physical education pedagogy, with a focus on developing teachers, coaches, and administrators who deliver high-quality, research-based physical education, sport, and physical activity programs. His research has focused on applying the principles of applied behavior analysis in physical activity settings to improve exercise behavior, motor skills, motivation, and social behavior among students and athletes. He has published scholarly articles, presented at state, regional, and national conferences, and co-authored a book on behavior management in physical education, but his first academic love and priority is teaching his students in the classroom.
