David Kress, baritone, is a former member of the Roger Wagner Chorale, where he performed in three national tours and two tours to the Far East as a featured soloist. He was also a featured soloist on Roger Wagner’s final CD recording for Toshiba EMI. Kress has appeared in over ninety productions with Los Angeles Opera and the former Opera Pacific in comprimario roles, bit parts, and chorus. His outreach and education performances have included work with San Diego Opera and Guild Opera Los Angeles.

As a soloist, his repertoire includes Vaughan Williams’ The Five Mystical Songs and Haydn’s Mass in Time of War with the Los Angeles Camerata; Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the Angeles Chorale; Handel’s Messiah and Mozart’s Solemn Vespers of a Saint as an APU faculty artist; and Schubert’s Mass in G, Brahms’ German Requiem, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 as a Vanguard University faculty artist (1999–2010).

At the Aspen Music Festival, Kress performed the role of Spencer Coyle in Britten’s Owen Wingrave, earning a warm review from Opera News. He holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Music from California State University, Los Angeles. He currently serves as an independent voice faculty at the Azusa Pacific University School of Music.
