Evangeline Fangonil-Gagalang, PhD is an experienced nurse, nurse educator, and scholar. Her medical background is in medical-surgical and emergency nursing.
Gagalang earned her PhD in Nursing from Azusa Pacific University in 2021, where she developed a deep appreciation for the institution’s mission to integrate faith in nursing education. Prior to joining APU, she served with distinction as undergraduate program director and faculty member at California State University, San Bernardino for more than a decade. In this role, she gained extensive experience in program administration, curriculum oversight, and student development, establishing herself as a true leader in nursing education. Currently, Gagalang serves as the president of the California Association of Colleges of Nursing and immediate past chair of the Association of California Nurse Leaders’ Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Committee.
Gagalang's teaching portfolio encompasses critical areas of nursing education, including nursing research, leadership development, and professional role transition. Her pedagogical approach reflects her commitment to preparing students for successful nursing practice through evidence-based education and holistic development.
Her scholarly interests and practice focus on several key areas that address contemporary
challenges in nursing education and healthcare delivery such as:
- Precision Health: Advancing personalized approaches to healthcare delivery.
- Student Readiness for Practice: Ensuring nursing graduates are prepared for professional practice.
- Holistic Admission: Developing comprehensive approaches to student selection and evaluation.
- Curriculum Development: Creating innovative educational frameworks for nursing programs.
