Applied Instructor: French Horn

Stephanie Thomas is an accomplished horn player with extensive principal and section experience performing with ensembles such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, American Ballet Theatre, Glendale Symphony, Asia America Symphony, Redlands Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay, Mozart Camerata, Orange County Master Chorale, and Pasadena Pops Orchestra.

Her versatility as a performer extends to musical theatre, with credits in numerous major productions at the Ahmanson, Schubert, Pantages, Orange County Performing Arts Center, and South Bay Cities. These productions include Wicked, The Producers, La Boheme, The Lion King, Saturday Night Fever, Titanic, Evita, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Les Misérables, Aida, Ragtime, Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music, Little Women, Into the Woods, South Pacific, The King and I, My Fair Lady, Will Rogers Follies, Cinderella, and The Desert Song.

Stephanie also has significant recording studio experience for film, television, and radio. Recent projects include Superman, Lilo and Stitch, Elio, Twisters, Oppenheimer, Avatar 2, The Greatest Showman, Family Guy, American Dad, Beetlejuice, Bullet Train, Transformers, Wish, Deadpool 2, The Lion King, and Spiderman: No Way Home, among others.

An active educator, Stephanie currently serves as horn instructor at Azusa Pacific University (since 2004), Citrus College (since 2010), Whittier College (since 2008), Irvine Valley College (since 2023), and Saddleback College (since 2015). Her teaching responsibilities include Applied Horn, Horn Master Class, Brass Master Class, Horn Pedagogy (MUS 440), and Horn Literature (MUS 452). She works with Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Artist Certificate students, and is a performing member of both the APU Faculty Woodwind Quintet and Brass Quintet, which present frequent recitals and outreach performances.

Stephanie has been teaching horn privately since 1995, working with students of all ages and levels.
