Classical guitarist Michael Kozubek, MM, has been on the faculty of APU since 1987 and is one of the most sought-after teachers of classical guitar in Southern California. While receiving his BM from DePaul University in Chicago and his MM from the University of Southern California. Kozubek has studied with and performed in master classes of such guitar luminaries as Andres Segovia, Pepe & Angel Romero, Abel Carlavaro, David Russell, Alexandre Lagoya, David Tannenbaum, Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghilia and Michael Lorimer to name a few. He has been an accompanist in multiple ensembles, performed numerous solo recitals and has appeared as the guest soloist in guitar concerti with several orchestras. He has brought guitarists David Burgess, Roland Dyens, Jason Vieaux and Denis Azabagic to APU for masterclasses and concerts in the last five years and has been a board member of the American Guitar Society since 2008. Kozubek has built a comprehensive guitar program at APU which includes not just applied lessons but a guitar ensemble, guitar pedagogy, guitar history & literature classes and a class in fingerboard harmony for which he authored the text used in the course.
