Design Studies Minor

The minor in design studies allows students from any major to develop additional visual communication skills, including practical principles of design using various design software. The design studies minor is a natural complement to marketing, communication management, and computer science majors, and students from a number of other majors also appreciate learning these techniques for solving unusual visual challenges. For questions or more information about the design studies minor or other programs in the Department of Design, visit the department website.

I majored in English so I could learn how to tell stories with words, and I minored in design studies so I could learn how to tell stories with images. In the era of the internet and social media, the ability to communicate through a variety of media is essential, and I believe that APU’s design studies program prepared me to do that. The faculty always gave meaningful feedback and encouraged my personal style, and the projects they assigned were diverse and relevant.
