Commercial Music Major
The Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music prepares students for careers in both the Christian and secular commercial music industry. Coursework maintains a real-world point of view, reflective of faculty who are primarily working professionals in the field of commercial music.
This program offers the following areas of study: Audio Recording Track, Composing/Arranging Track, Instrumental Performance Track, Music Business Track, and Vocal Performance Track.
Composition Major
The Bachelor of Music in Composition offers excellent preparation for graduate study or work as a professional composer. The program helps students discover a distinctive voice as they develop a portfolio of compositions. In addition to composition, courses in theory, music history, literature, conducting, and technology give students a thorough preparation in comprehensive musicianship.
Music Education (Pre-Teacher Certification) Major
The Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Pre-Teacher Certification) program trains future music teachers, offering preparation in the necessary skills, knowledge, and appropriate methodologies for success at all levels of music education within California.
This program offers the following areas of study: Choral and Instrumental.
Music Minor
Enhance your musical knowledge and performance skills with Azusa Pacific’s acclaimed music program. Prospective students must pass the same placement and proficiency examinations that are required for the music major.
Music and Worship Major
The Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Music and Worship provides the student with a broad perspective in the field of music ministry and consists of academic preparation in music, Christian ministry, and practical theology. Graduates are given the tools needed to minister effectively in an ever-changing music ministry environment, and they are prepared for more specialized graduate study in music or Christian ministry.
This program offers the following areas of study: Biblical Studies, Christian Ministries, Composing/Songwriting, Fine Arts, Global Worship and Culture, Instrumental Performance, Music Production, and Vocal Performance.
Performance Major
The Bachelor of Music in Performance program is tailored to students seeking a career in performance or pedagogy (private teaching), or who wish to pursue advanced degrees in performance.
This program offers the following areas of study: Brass, Wind, or Percussion, Guitar, Harp, Organ, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, or Bass, and Vocal.
Worship Leadership Minor
Learn about theological reflection, philosophical inquiry, technological awareness, the history and nature of corporate worship, and the practical application of the worship design process, along with music theory, ear training, and sight singing.
