Following a “first career” as a high school social studies teacher, Dennis Sheridan, PhD, EdD, entered the world of college student development nearly 30 years ago at Texas Christian University, where he served as a residence hall director while pursuing a master’s and doctorate in Christian education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon completion of the doctorate, he became vice president for student life and dean of students at California Baptist University. After 10 years in that role, and upon the completion of his PhD from UCLA, he moved to APU as a faculty member, program director, and department chair. At APU, he helped expand the master’s program in college student affairs and helped develop the doctoral program in higher education leadership. In 2006, he became director of the doctoral program in higher education leadership at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
