Biography

Tammy Bachrach, Ph.D., graduated from Biola University and earned her doctoral degree in education with an emphasis in disability studies from Chapman University. She grew up in the disability community as the daughter and sister of individuals with intellectual disabilities. She has been a general and special educator for over 20 years, working with both primary and secondary students with disabilities. She served as the director of services for CAPC Inc., a nonprofit agency, for 10 years aiding adults with disabilities. She has developed program designs and has provided input for state level policies on disability issues as a board member of the Eastern Los Angeles Regional Center. Her research interests include examining the experiences and perspectives of adult children born to parents with intellectual disabilities and bridging the gap between disability studies, the Church, and Christian schools.
