International Graduate Admission Requirements

What You Need to Apply:

Admissions Requirements

Search for your area of study and find the application requirements on the program page (in Application and Admissions Info tab under Program Details section).

English Proficiency Requirements

Most graduate programs will require international students to submit proof of English proficiency.

Transcript Policy

Official transcripts are required for all degrees, certificates, and credentials earned prior to application to APU. Official transcripts for other college coursework not leading to a degree, certificate, or credential may be required by the department for program acceptance consideration.

An official transcript is one that Azusa Pacific University receives unopened in an envelope sealed by the former institution and that bears the official seal of the college or university. APU reserves the right to require transcripts sent directly from the former institution.

Once filed, transcripts are subject to the provisions of applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and cannot be returned to the applicant or forwarded to other educational institutions.

The baccalaureate degree transcript may be waived, with approval of the academic program, if an applicant has earned a regionally accredited master’s or doctoral degree prior to applying to APU.

APU alumni need not request official transcripts for baccalaureate coursework from the undergraduate registrar. If an alum is applying to a graduate program, Graduate and Professional Admissions will obtain a copy for the admissions file.

Foreign Transcript Translation and Evaluation

International credentials (transcripts, certificates, diplomas, and degrees) must be translated into English, certified by an authorized official, and include the posted degree. APU requires that international credentials be evaluated by an approved agency, which creates an official Degree/Transcript Equivalency Report, to verify that the international degree is comparable to a degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States. An official copy of this Degree/Transcript Equivalency Report is submitted with a student’s official international credentials for university admission consideration.

View a list of approved Foreign Transcript Evaluation Agencies.

Credential program applicants must obtain a transcript from a foreign transcript evaluation service approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing if you need to have your foreign credential evaluated by a professional.

Minimum GPA

A minimum 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 U.S. scale is required for all international applicants. Some programs require a higher GPA. Please review the program-specific requirements.

Additional Test Requirements

Other test score reports (GMAT, GRE, or CBEST) may be required for certain programs. Please review the program-specific items.
