Valerie Joy Smith teaches in the Traditional Undergraduate and Master of Science in Nursing programs. Her focus areas include adult care, restorative and critical care nursing, theoretical application, scholarly writing, nursing leadership, and ethics issues in health care. "Joy" has extensive clinical and leadership/managerial experience in critical and medical/surgical care (including cardiovascular medicine and surgery, neurosurgical science, multi-organ transplantation, burn/trauma), case management, ambulatory care, and medical and nursing research.
