Program Details
APU’s Master of Business Administration program offers a flexible, in-depth graduate experience for working professionals and can be completed in as few as 12 months. We blend applied learning with real-world case studies to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
APU offers 10 unique concentrations that deepen your specialized expertise and position you as a competitive candidate in your chosen field.
Accounting
In the accounting concentration, you take advanced courses in accounting ethics, accounting information systems, accounting and tax research methods, auditing, forensic accounting and fraud investigation, and other relevant topics. These classes develop the skills needed to understand and critically evaluate financial statements, apply accounting principles in the workplace, and make strategic recommendations and decisions that benefit the financial health of for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
Business Analytics
Build strong analytical skills and learn how to turn data into informed business decisions. This concentration strengthens your ability to interpret complex data, apply insights strategically, and communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders. You graduate prepared for roles such as data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or data scientist across a variety of industries.
Entrepreneurship
Turn ideas into viable business ventures with the entrepreneurship concentration. With a strong emphasis on practical strategy and real-world application, this track teaches you how to evaluate opportunities, test feasibility, and apply business tactics that advance entrepreneurial concepts. Through hands-on activities, team-based projects, venture simulations, and case studies, you analyze consumer decision making, apply insights from behavioral and social sciences, and explore effective approaches to negotiation, marketing, and customer communication.
Finance
Develop expertise in managing financial resources at the personal and organizational levels. The finance concentration strengthens your ability to oversee cash management, investments, budgeting, and fundraising to support short- and long-term growth. Through your coursework, you study capital markets, financial institutions, and investment principles, acquiring the practical tools necessary for sound financial decision making.
Healthcare Management
Prepare to lead in complex healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, and healthcare systems. You’ll learn more about healthcare operations, marketing, quality, and safety while building the skills needed to navigate the business side of healthcare. You graduate ready to pursue leadership roles in healthcare administration, consulting, or policy analysis.
International Business
The international business concentration empowers you with a robust understanding of the economic, cultural, and ethical forces that shape international business. You also strengthen your ability to navigate global markets, manage across cultures, market to diverse audiences, and address the financial complexities of multiple currencies. You can also expand your global awareness through study-away opportunities that bring international business concepts to life.
Marketing
With the rise of social media and an increasing number of direct consumer touchpoints, companies require marketing specialists to communicate their brands and values effectively. Our marketing concentration enhances your strategic marketing expertise, enabling you to respond to industry forces, organizational change, and evolving market conditions. Through hands-on research, planning, and analysis, you learn how to build market-centric organizations using digital marketing, integrated marketing communications, social media analytics, and case-based decision-making skills.
Organizational Science
Our organizational science concentration provides a unique opportunity for you to customize a concentration that aligns with your specific career goals when other options don’t fully meet your needs. You design this concentration by proposing business courses and selecting offerings from other APU graduate programs to support your professional focus. All course proposals are reviewed and approved by the School of Business and Management Graduate Program Committee before you begin the concentration.
Public Administration
In the public administration concentration, you build the leadership and analytical skills needed to guide public and nonprofit organizations through complex political, financial, and stakeholder environments. You also study public policy, economic development, and the policy process while strengthening decision making in resource-limited settings.
Equipped with these highly transferable competencies, you graduate ready for leadership, consulting, or advocacy roles in government, nonprofit organizations, and international sectors.
Sport Management
Develop the business and leadership skills needed to manage sport and athletic organizations at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels. APU’s sports management concentration explores the global sports landscape while building competency in analytics, collaboration, and decision making. Additionally, you learn to apply principles of corporate social responsibility through a Christ-centered perspective, leading with purpose and integrity.
Our online MBA delivers the same academic rigor and faculty engagement as our in-person MBA program. The structure allows you to study when and where it works best, for you, while still prioritizing meaningful interaction with faculty and peers. The result is a supportive and connected learning experience that complements work and family commitments.
Convenient Scheduling
APU’s School of Business and Management operates on a year-round schedule, with each academic year divided into 8-week sessions.
Many MBA students enroll in one to two classes per session, completing their degree in 12-30 months. While you can choose to extend the length of the program past the average completion time by taking fewer units per term, we require you to complete your degree within five years of initial enrollment.
Additionally, we maintain a reasonable week-to-week commitment to help you progress toward your goals. While classes do not require you to be online during a specific timeframe, you should plan to be online six to 10 hours per week per unit to complete assignments successfully and participate in discussions.
Enduring Support for Online Students
We work hard to ensure that all of our students— online and in person—feel confident in their place at APU. That’s why all our online programs include a two-week orientation before the start of the first class, so you can familiarize yourself with the online format.
Additionally, you have access to a program coordinator for help with course scheduling, along with academic advising to monitor progress and tailor your program of study. Throughout the program, you are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The MBA program is advanced; we evaluate your application and qualifications holistically. We assess the rigor of your undergraduate studies, academic performance, extensive work experience, and personal references.
