Cheryl Crawford Memorial Endowment Scholarship
Who was Cheryl Crawford, PhD?
Cheryl Crawford loved working with youth as a teacher and mentor in both academic and Christian camp settings. She dedicated her life to both, at the collegiate level as a professor and held many roles in her more than 40 years of dedicated service to Camp Brookwoods and Camp Deer Run. In her roles as Camp Director, Camp Pastor, and serving on the Board of Directors at these camps, she focused on programming, leadership development, faith experiences, and recruitment.
She earned her Master of Divinity and her PhD in Practical Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She was a professor of Youth and Family Ministries in the Department of Practical Theology at Azusa Pacific University for 12 years. Crawford was considered an expert in adolescent development, youth ministry, and practical theology. Her research focused on the topic of faith in emerging adults.
She loved being outdoors, especially by the ocean, grew up on the east coast in Scituate, Massachusetts, and loved to spend time in Cambria and Del Mar, California. She loved spending time with students, family, and friends and built community wherever she lived, worked, and visited.
