Promoting and Protecting the APU Brand

The Division of Strategic Communication and Engagement partners with the university community to tell the Azusa Pacific University story as we promote its people, programs, and purpose to university customers, partners, and colleagues with integrity and consistency. In all that we do and produce on behalf of APU, we strive to reflect the university’s mission and commitment to God-honoring excellence.

The APU brand is more than our “cross rocks.” To paraphrase Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.com, your brand is what people say about your organization when you aren’t in the room. Even though others define our brand with their experiences and perceptions, we have myriad opportunities as faculty and staff to protect and promote our community in how we serve students, interact with one another, and communicate on behalf of the university.

Whether developing a website, crafting a story, designing a brochure, or engaging with community members, we strive to live out the brand of Azusa Pacific and anchor on our mission to cultivate difference makers.

Supporting the Brand Through Marketing and Public Relations

In collaboration with colleagues across campus, Division of Strategic Communication and Engagement works to establish and maintain the university’s institutional image through a variety of opportunities. Our goals are to:

  • Advance and protect the APU brand
  • Increase university/program market share
  • Provide strategic marketing communication counsel
  • Conduct relevant market research

We do this through a variety of marketing and public relations efforts, from the strategic development and distribution of print collateral and digital content, to consultation and relationship building in the following areas:

  • Recruitment marketing (print materials, university website, advertising, etc.)
  • Advertising (print and digital)
  • University website management (apu.edu)
  • Media relations
  • Community relations
  • Government relations
  • Visual storytelling
  • Event promotion (select university events)

Strategic Communication and Engagement also assists with wayfinding, promotional item approval, and photography and photo requests. View the guidelines below for more information on these areas.
